Access Statement

The Feathers stands on the market square in the centre of Helmsley.

We have a range of 23 en suite rooms offering double, twin, family and single accommodation.  We look forward to welcoming you and making your stay an enjoyable one.

We offer the following services and facilities:

PRE ARRIVAL

• For assistance prior to arrival please contact the reservations team on 01439 770275
• There is a taxi rank on the market square directly in front of the hotel.
• There is a bus stop outside the hotel with buses to York, Malton, Scarborough and the top of Sutton Bank.
• We have a website.
• You can contact the hotel by telephone, fax, E.mail or in person.

ARRIVAL AND CAR PARKING FACILITIES

• Guests can be dropped off close to the front door. There are 4 disabled parking bays on the market square directly in front of the hotel.  Entrance into the hotel from the front is over a smooth surface and through a single door which can be hooked back.
• There is a small gravel car park situated at the rear of the hotel.  There is a permanent ramp into the hotel at the rear entrance.  This entrance has double doors. 
• If you require assistance with luggage staff are happy to help you.
• There are no lifts in the hotel.

 MAIN ENTRANCE AND RECEPTION

• There are no steps within the reception area.
• When entering through the front door the reception desk is situated on your left hand side.
• Staff  are happy to help with completion of our registration card.
• The floor in the reception area is carpeted.
• The front door is locked after 11.00pm a key can be provided for residents

THE FUNCTION ROOM

• The main function room is located to the rear of the reception area. 
• There is one step between the function room and the Atrium bar.  The Atrium bar can be accessed via a gentle incline in the hall.
• The function room can also be accessed through the double doors at the rear entrance to the hotel where there is a permanent ramp.
• There is a wooden floor in the Function Room.
• The function room is both self service for carvery and table service for other events.  Staff  are always on hand to help.
• We are able to cater for varying dietary needs, please advise staff on booking.
• The lighting is natural daylight and spotlights during the day and low with candles during the evenings.

 THE BARS AND COFFEE LOUNGE

•  The hotel has three bars.
•  Meals are served in all three bars and the Coffee Lounge.
•  All bar meals are ordered from the bars and served by our staff who are always happy to help. We are able to cater for varying dietary needs, please advise staff on booking.

The Atrium Bar

• Lighting is a mixture of natural daylight and overhead spotlights whilst for the evening meal lighting is low level with candles on the tables.  Lighting can be increased at certain tables if required.
• There is  a wooden floor in the Atrium Bar.
• The furniture can be moved on request.
• The seating is chairs without arms. 

The Feversham Bar

• Is situated to the right of the reception area and has level access.
• The seating is mixed.  There are chairs with and without arms, benches and sofa's,  
• The floor is short pile carpet. 
• Lighting is natural daylight and table lamps during the day.  Lighting is low in the evenings. 

• Is situated to the left of the reception area  through the Coffee Lounge.
• It has a separate entrance door from the Market Square.  This entrance is stone flags with a slight downward slope.  There is a narrow drainage channel across this entrance.
• Has an open fire
• Has a stone floor and a carpeted area to the left.

PUBLIC AREAS

• A water bowl for dogs can be provided on request.

Toilets

• There are ladies and gentlemen's toilets on the ground floor.
• There is a separate Male/Female disabled toilet
• There is level access to all the toilets

Laundry

• We do not offer a laundry service but items can be laundered on request.

Shop

• Not available within the hotel.  The hotel is situated in the market square with good access to banks, supermarkets and a wide range of shops.

Leisure Facilities

• Not available within the hotel.
• There are many tourist attractions nearby, and the Tourist Information Centre is within easy reach. 
• The hotel staff are happy to advise guests.

Outdoor Facilities

• There are some tables with bench seating at the front of the hotel

 UPSTAIRS

• The hotel is an old building and bedrooms are located on three floors.
• Some floors have a slight slope.

BEDROOMS

• All our 23 bedrooms are upstairs
• All bedrooms are en suite and have televisions with remote controls
• All bedrooms have tea and coffee making facilities
• Bedding is a mixture of feather and non feather.  Please ask at reception if you would prefer non feather.
• Flooring is short pile carpet
• Lighting levels are controllable
• The furniture is flexible in the rooms and items can be moved on request
• Non smoking rooms
• Twin or double bed combinations are available
• Housekeeping staff are aware of procedures to aid privacy
• Emergency procedures are clearly written in large print
